Guardian Pro

Guardian now runs in its own window.

Pro Edge Guardian 3 replaces the Guardian Pro chart strategy. Your strategies run on Sim accounts; Guardian copies their trades to your funded account under your rules, and locks the account at your profit target or loss limit. Already running Guardian Pro 2.x? Take it out first — it takes a few minutes.

Remove the old one, import the new one.

Guardian 3 is a new kind of add-on, so it does not replace 2.x on its own. Leave the old one installed and you have two Guardians — the new one refuses an account an old Guardian Pro is still protecting, so they never copy the same trade twice.

    Upgrade while you are flat

    Do it outside your trading hours with no open positions. Between taking the old Guardian off and turning the new one on, nothing is protecting the account.

    Take Guardian Pro off your charts

    On every chart that runs it: right-click the chart → Strategies, select GuardianPro, click Remove, then OK. Remove the GuardianPro Brackets indicator the same way, under Indicators.

    Remove the old files

    In the Control Center: Tools → Remove NinjaScript Assembly. Select the Guardian Pro entry (its name starts with GuardianPro, for example GuardianPro_V2.4), click Remove, and restart NinjaTrader when it asks.

    Import Guardian 3

    Download Guardian Pro from your account — version 3.24 or later. In the Control Center: Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On, and pick the .zip (do not unzip it). Restart NinjaTrader.

    Set it up again

    Your 2.x settings do not carry over, so enter your accounts, limits and rules once more — the steps are below. Save them as a template and they are one click away on any account.

Setting it up

Five minutes, once.

New to Guardian? Download it from your account and import it as in the setup steps, then:

    Open Guardian

    In the Control Center: New → Pro Edge Guardian. Or click the P button on any chart and pick Pro Edge Guardian. It is a window of its own, not something you add to a chart.

    Pick the funded account

    Click the account picker at the top left and choose the account Guardian protects. To protect another account too, use + ADD ACCOUNT at the bottom: each account gets its own tab.

    Settings

    Click the gear. Choose the Sim accounts whose trades Guardian copies (or every Sim account), your profit target and loss limit, Net or Gross and where commissions come from, the trading window (start, stop and flatten times) and the rules: stacking, same-instrument trades, hedging, max open trades, contract limit and the optional disaster stop.

    Turn it on

    Click GUARDIAN OFF so it reads GUARDIAN ON. When the window opens, Guardian copies your Sim accounts’ trades to the funded account under your rules, and at your target or limit it cancels orders, flattens and stops the strategies. A lock lasts the rest of the trading day; Reset clears it.

    The lines on your chart (optional)

    On the funded account’s chart, add the Pro Edge Guardian Brackets indicator (right-click → Indicators → ProEdge) to see the stops and targets of the trades Guardian copied.

Good to know

  • The day’s results stay on screen after your last trade until the futures trading day ends at 5:00 PM Central. After that, and every morning, Guardian starts again at $0.00.
  • Turning Guardian off and on, or restarting NinjaTrader, keeps the day’s P&L and any lock.
  • Commissions shows NEEDS SET when your account’s fills carry no commission in NinjaTrader. Set commissions on the account in NinjaTrader, or pick My rates under Commissions in Guardian’s settings, so Net is truly net.
  • Reports keeps your last sessions: every trade copied or blocked, the lock, and the result.
